Enterprising inventor, walker #

My name is Benoit Pereira da Silva, I am 53 years old, and since 1999 I have been designing and developing apps and platforms of all kinds. After studying fine arts and art sciences at UFR 04 of the Sorbonne, I became a professional developer and entrepreneur. I taught at university for several years and participated in multiple research programs.

Alongside this, since 1998, I have been conducting independent research on metaprogramming, generative systems — literary text generators, proactive interactive multimedia systems — and the convergence of living systems and abstract machines.

This work, carried out privately without academic publication, has experienced — since the rise of generative and then agentic computing — an exponential acceleration and has led to a radical method, Organic Programming — a bio-inspired method, heir to the Unix philosophy, for building systems from independent and composable functional units..

Wine lover. #

I am also an apprentice winemaker on a very part-time basis at our family estate of 13.5 hectares, Château Pas de l’Âne.

Since 2013, I only work while walking: #

I completed a first trip around the world on a treadmill in July 2021, having started in 2013. I usually work indoors on a walking station.

Tired of electric motors, in 2020 I cobbled together a more durable walking station by adapting a motorless wooden running belt Sprintbok to my intensive use.

The commonly accepted translation into French of Hume’s phrase “All knowledge resolves itself into probability” is: “Toute connaissance se résout en probabilité” or “Toute connaissance s’achève en probabilité” (David Hume, A Treatise of Human Nature, I, IV, 1). I have slightly modified it for the circumstances… Recently, knowledge has dissolved into probabilistic organs — machines mutated when natural language became the dominant programming mode of systems (“prompt-based” then “agentic”). Software co-creation has transformed into an art of writing and thought; an art that is fascinating, dangerous, and strange. ↩︎
